In with the new!

My wheel came in the mail! *Does crazy dance that there are no words to describe*

My boyfriend was kind enough to put it together for me. I eagerly watched and took pictures of the process. I also had a migraine while all of this is happening, but whatever, I dug deep :)

Here we were, just starting out. We got all the pieces out of the box and laid them out on the floor. The cat's really liked that idea.

Then things really started picking up. I swear Evan is a whiz at putting stuff together.

It only took us about 2 hours total to get the whole thing together!

Oh and if you are wondering about the toblerone bar in the picture: It was not included with the wheel :) We used it as a straight edge to line up the flyer and wheel. We couldn't find a ruler so we improvised with chocolate!

Turned into:
full bobbin

And that turned into:
120 yards merino

So after my first day with Amelia, I spun 120 yards of 2 ply merino wool.

  1. WOW! That's impressive! I have spinning envy for sure. :) I don't know if I'm going to get the spinning bug or not, but now I'm kinda hoping not. lol I don't think I can afford another craft! hehe

You asked about the book that my socks were knit from. It's called Socks from the Toe Up
by Wendy D. Johnson. It's definitely one of my stand bys! :)

Can't wait to see what you make from your handspun!

  4. Wow! You turned out a whole bobbin on the first day. I am amazed and very happy for you. Both your skein and that little wheel are beautiful.

I have a double treadle Louet S75 that finally found some space in my life after the initial half bobbin.
